His Excellency President Dr Irfaan Ali praised Jags Aviation for procuring two new HAL 228 aircraft to add to its operational fleet, saying the move reflects the continued ascent of Guyana’s aviation sector.
The Head of State delivered the feature address at the ceremony at Jags’ Bradley Hangar at Ogle Airport on Saturday evening.
“The company is climbing to higher altitudes, expanding its reach, increasing its capacity, and positioning itself for the opportunities that lie ahead.”
President Ali emphasised that his Government has developed a 10‑point plan for the further development of the country’s aviation sector.
This includes transforming Guyana into a regional aviation hub; constructing new terminals and infrastructure; developing new municipal airports; modernising and expanding hinterland airstrips; strengthening eco‑tourism through aviation connectivity; establishing a national aviation school; upgrading air navigation and air traffic management systems; strengthening aviation safety and regulatory oversight; digitising aviation services and operations with the inclusion of AI; and strengthening aviation emergency response.
“Together, these ten priorities represent a bold flight path for Guyana’s aviation future. They are designed to connect communities, support tourism, facilitate trade, strengthen national integration, attract investment, and position Guyana as one of the most dynamic aviation markets in the region.”
The President said the vision is clear — a modern aviation sector that allows Guyana not merely to participate in global growth, but to soar alongside it.
